Friend,
I will always, always protect the right to choose. I will always fight for reproductive justice.
I don’t say these things lightly. Today is the 47th anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade, which protected a woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion free from government intrusion. And 47 years after that monumental ruling, we are on the brink of it being overturned.
That’s why we need a strong movement in the streets fighting for reproductive justice. And we need partners in the halls of government fighting just as hard.
I’m proud to have the support of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, who is in this fight every day.
So that’s why, today, with 47 years of progress at risk, I’m asking you to split a donation between my campaign and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
I know this issue is personal for so many.
When, if, and how you have a family is as personal a decision gets. And that’s why it should belong to you and you alone -- not politicians in your state house or the halls of Congress.
But we must also acknowledge the right to access an abortion is not equal for everyone. The Hyde Amendment prevents low-income individuals and people of color from accessing abortion care -- which is why I’ve cosponsored legislation to repeal it.
And it’s equally as important that we support someone who chooses to continue a pregnancy. Which is why I support passing paid family and medical leave so new parents don’t have to choose between a paycheck or caring for their newborn.
While my Democratic colleagues and I are fighting for reproductive justice legislation, our Republican counterparts are passing bills at the state legislature that would completely ban abortion and force doctors to peform invasive and unnecessary ultrasounds.
Our movement for reproductive justice needs to be united and strong if we are to stand up to the attacks on one of the most fundamental rights in this country.
Please split a donation between my campaign and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund today. Let’s show that Roe won’t go anywhere if we have anything to say about it.
Thank you,
