John — We set a goal of raising 5,000 individual donations to elect Lucas Kunce between today and midnight on February 28th. So before I ask you to help kick off our end-of-month fundraising drive, please give me a moment to explain why hitting this goal is so critical for our campaign.
Lucas made waves after launching his campaign to replace Josh Hawley on January 6th — two years to the day that Hawley ran away from the insurrectionists he helped incite outside the Capitol. And whether it’s calling Hawley out on prime-time TV for being a coward or breaking Missouri fundraising records within the first week of his campaign, Lucas has put a real spotlight on Missouri’s U.S. Senate race.
But that doesn’t mean it’ll be easy. Election watchers are keeping a close eye on the movement we’re building behind Lucas. They know the kind of resources we’ll need to stand up to Josh Hawley, and they’ll use whatever data points they can find from these first few months of our campaign to determine whether we’ll be strong enough.
So it might only be February, but the stakes are already high. Hitting this goal means we’ll show everyone — pundits, GOP insiders, and anyone else who’s watching our race — the sheer amount of people power Lucas has behind him.
