It's outrageous when politicians abuse their power to take away access to health care. It's even more infuriating when those attacks are shamelessly dishonest.
Right now in Texas, the state and an anonymous plaintiff are suing the three Texas Planned Parenthood affiliates and Planned Parenthood Federation of America for over $1.8 billion. This is one more attempt to bully patients and providers — and if they get away with it, it could force health centers to shut down.
Enough is enough.
Tell Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton to drop this politically motivated lawsuit and end the attacks on Planned Parenthood health centers and patients.
This lawsuit falsely alleges that Planned Parenthood Texas affiliates defrauded the state's Medicaid system by getting reimbursed for basic health care services they provided to patients with low incomes. It's flat-out wrong: Federal and state courts explicitly said Planned Parenthood affiliates could provide these services.
The facts are clear: Planned Parenthood health centers did nothing wrong. They legally provided essential health care to thousands of Texans, including birth control, STI testing and treatment, and lifesaving cancer screenings.
But so far, Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton aren't letting the truth get in the way of their agenda. So it's time to turn up the heat:
Stop the attacks on Planned Parenthood health centers and patients.
Politicians like Abbott and Paxton know that their attacks on health care are unpopular. They know that people want and need access to basic services like birth control, cancer screenings, and other essential reproductive health care. So they're trying to weaponize the courts to shut down health centers and cut patients off from care.
This is an abuse of power, plain and simple. Tell Texas: Drop this lawsuit and stop the attacks on patients and providers.
Thank you for standing strong and speaking out.
