Friend,
I’m proud to announce that I’m running for re-election in 2020!
Click here to watch my announcement on Facebook Live today at 1pm ET.
I’m so grateful to you for believing in the possibility of someone like me serving in the U.S. Congress.
I ran for office to lift up the voices of people from Michigan’s 13th congressional district, which is the third poorest district in the country, and one of the most polluted.
Too many communities like ours have been left behind and ignored. While people are struggling to make ends meet and fighting for clean air to breathe, corporate polluters are destroying our health, homes, livelihoods, and communities.
I can’t wait to continue making our government work for all of us, not just the wealthy few.

Together, we’ve made history—after electing the first Palestinian-American woman to Congress and one of the first Muslim women, we immediately got to work building a constituent services program to serve the residents of Michigan’s 13th congressional district.
In 2019, we created four neighborhood service centers throughout #13thDistrictStrong. These centers have changed people’s lives, returning more than $500,000 to residents. While serving people’s immediate needs, we also introduced 14 transformative bills—and cosponsored many more—to address systemic injustices and lift people out of poverty.
Together, we’ll increase the minimum wage, address our climate crisis, ensure healthcare for all, fix our broken immigration system and criminal justice system, fight the root causes of poverty, and protect our rights to housing, quality education, clean air, and clean water.
It’s been an honor to serve you every day. Here’s to more in 2020 and beyond!
