Friends –
11 times last night the question on the floor was simple: 11 votes to hear witnesses or seek documents. 11 times Senator Jones, in keeping with his oath to seek impartial justice, voted yes. Yes on witnesses. Yes to subpoena relevant documents. All to seek the truth.
But before the Senate even adjourned last night new ads were launched attacking Doug – $1 million in attack ads announced, $485,000 attacking him this week alone for simply seeking the truth.
Partisan attacks won’t stop Doug from seeking impartial justice. We told you we would let you know when we needed you to have Doug’s back and he needs us all now.
Not 24 hours after he was sworn in, extreme right wingers were already attacking Doug with a million-dollar ad buy. He needs to know we have his back. Can you add your name here and let Doug know you support him? [[link removed]]
After opening statements, the Senate will likely vote to determine whether they allow witness testimony or not. To Senator Jones, an attorney himself, it is unthinkable to have a trial without allowing crucial evidence.
Our efforts are already working. We are seeing reports of offices around the country “besieged” by calls demanding the Senate allow witnesses and conduct a fair trial. We have to keep it up.
If you heard the Senator yesterday, he is working hard to urge his colleagues to “set partisanship aside,” “be very transparent about this,” and, most importantly, “get people out of their partisan corners.”
Here’s what Senator Jones really needs from you right now: While he’s working during the trial for impartial justice, he needs to know he isn’t alone in his fight for truth. Next time I talk to him during a break in the trial, I want to be able to tell him that 10,000 supporters around the country are with him. Can you please add your name to let Doug know that while he’s doing his constitutional duty, you’ve got his back? [[link removed]]
We can really make a difference here. We are working on a few other ways to help Doug fight back against this ad onslaught, but first things first: are you with him?
Thank you for your help.
