Trump Visits East Palestine
Former President Donald Trump visited East Palestine, Ohio, today – something that President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg have yet to do.
Even in a cold rain, hundreds of people in the small Ohio town lined the streets and chanted, “U.S.A!, U.S.A.!, U.S.A.!” Trump delivered thousands of gallons of donated cleaning supplies and thousands of bottles of drinking water collected from Trump hotels.
In his remarks, Trump said:
“We’re here today in East Palestine to show our support and love for our fellow Americans. . . To the people of East Palestine and the surrounding areas, you are not forgotten. We stand with you. . .
“Americans have been inspired by your strength and courage. . . Over the past few weeks, this community has shown the tough and resilient heart of America. Unfortunately, your goodness was met with indifference and betrayal [by the Biden Administration].
“What this community needs now is not excuses, but answers and results. . . I sincerely hope that when Biden gets back from touring Ukraine, he’s got some money left over.”
As we noted yesterday, Joe Biden has a heart for Ukraine, but not so much for the people of East Palestine, Ohio. I believe part of the reason why Biden didn’t jump on this crisis is 1) It doesn’t easily lend itself to left-wing exploitation because most of the victims are white, and 2) They voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump.
As the left continues to push for globalism, the best the people of East Palestine may get from the left is some promise of “guaranteed income” or additional welfare, which is not what they want.
Sadly, communities like East Palestine were left behind as elites in both parties pushed “free trade” with cheap labor nations, including communist China. Like so many American small towns, this area of Ohio was devastated as tens of thousands of factories closed down and those good-paying manufacturing jobs were shipped overseas.
We Deserve Transparency
Leftist politicians in Congress are furious!
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is fuming about “dangerous conspiracy theories.” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) is angry about “a serious security risk.” Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said it was “deeply dangerous and irresponsible.” House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) blasted the “egregious security breach.”
What has these progressives so hopping mad?
Is it the latest revelation of lax security at the Pentagon? No.
Is it the outrageous number of LGBTQ Pride events, clear distractions from combat readiness, hosted by the Air Force? No.
Is it Biden’s wide-open borders? No.
These left-wing politicians are spitting nails because House Speaker Kevin McCarthy just granted Tucker Carlson access to more than 40,000 hours of video taken on Capitol Hill on January 6th.
Frankly, I’m outraged, too! I’m just as mad as Jeffries, Pelosi, Raskin and Schiff, but for entirely different reasons.
This video should have been released a long time ago. The American people deserve transparency! What are the leftists so desperate to hide?
In explaining his decision, Speaker McCarthy said: “We watched the politicization of [the January 6th Committee.] I think the American public should actually see all that happened, instead of a [politically biased] report.”
Kudos to Speaker McCarthy!
But don’t dismiss the progressive bluster. They are going to keep playing the “security threat” card against conservatives until they succeed in silencing all dissent and criminalizing all of us, including concerned parents and orthodox Catholics!
Biden’s Assault On Faith
The Biden Administration’s relentless assault on religious liberty continues. The Department of Education is now taking steps to repeal a Trump-era policy that protected the rights of religious student groups on college campuses.
This latest attack comes as the Biden Administration is attempting to force educational institutions at every level (here and here) to bow to its radical transgender agenda.
It’s impossible to deny the left’s hostility to all things conservative on college campuses, especially conservative faith-based groups. But as I noted above, this is just one more example of the intolerant left’s growing totalitarianism.
The 2024 Field Grows
Biotech entrepreneur and anti-woke crusader Vivek Ramaswamy announced yesterday that he is jumping into the 2024 Republican presidential primary. With an estimated net worth of $500 million, fundraising won’t be an issue for Ramaswamy, giving him a significant advantage over better known politicians.
I recently heard him speak at a private event and he’s very impressive. While some speculate that he’s really auditioning for a cabinet position in a future conservative administration, I believe he’s definitely someone to keep an eye on. He has a very bright future ahead of him.
Meanwhile, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, another potential GOP contender, went on the Sunday talk shows over the weekend to take potshots at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Hogan blasted Florida’s popular Parental Rights In Education Law, saying, “I’m a small government, commonsense conservative, and to me, it sounds like big government and [authoritarianism].”
As a reminder, Florida’s Parental Rights In Education Law prohibits teachers and school officials from discussing sexual orientation and gender identity with students in kindergarten through third grade. Polling showed that most Florida Democrats supported this commonsense law, but apparently it’s a “bridge too far” for Larry Hogan.
I guess Hogan will be fighting New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu to lead the GOP’s “Surrender Caucus.” Sununu recently parroted the left by calling Gov. DeSantis an “extremist.”
Amid polls showing that many Democrats are eager for an alternative in 2024, West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin announced today that he is not running for president. He has not yet made a decision about whether he will run for reelection to the Senate.
But leftist author Marianne Williamson is launching a tour of early primary states in advance of her expected challenge to President Joe Biden.
Williamson distinguished herself from the 2020 Democrat field by being the first candidate to release a detailed plan for slavery reparations, a policy that is overwhelmingly rejected by most Americans.
