Today, the House passed a bill to repeal the Pistol Permitting System (PPP) system—a key gun violence prevention measure that is proven to save lives. We need your support to keep our staff on the ground to advocate for safer communities across NC by keeping our current permit system in place. A repeal of our PPP system would allow potential gun owners to take advantage of a loophole that exists when purchasing firearms at gun shows or online. When Missouri repealed its PPP they saw firearm homicide rate spike by 47% and suicide rate go up by 24%. We can’t let that happen in NC.
