Common Dreams has an entirely different, people-powered model, but we are not immune to many of the same economic trends forcing newsroom layoffs, including inflation and shifting readerships.
In fact, while we never had a layoff at Common Dreams, our staff has shrunk because we needed to leave some positions unfilled after staff retired or moved on to other jobs.
