John,
It may be a new year, but the fracking industry is up to its old tricks once again.
Along with their allies in Congress, the fracking industry wants to build a massive complex in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia that would turn fracked gas into plastics, all at the expense of the local communities and the global climate — and they want to use our tax dollars to do it.
Their latest plan is to include funding for this project in the federal highway funding bill, which is set to be introduced next week. We need to pressure House Democrats now to keep this funding out of the highway bill.
Send a message to your member of Congress today to stop this handout to the fracking industry.

The Appalachia Storage and Trading Hub is a key part of the fracking industry’s plans to keep drilling and lock us in to decades of gas and plastics. If it’s built, this project would be a massive complex including over 1,100 miles of new pipelines.
A few senators on both sides of the aisle want the federal government to provide financial support for the project, and they passed a highway bill through the Senate last year that did just that. The age of fossil fuels is over, but the fossil fuel industry and its allies are trying to hang on and sneak projects through Congress however they can.
But we won’t let them. Thanks to pressure from Food & Water Action supporters and allies, we’ve stopped any taxpayer funds from being used for the gas storage hub. We can’t let up now, and the highway bill is the next phase of this important fight.

The House highway bill will likely be introduced next week, so this may be our last chance to keep funding for this fracked gas project out of the bill. Your Representative needs to hear directly from constituents like you that we won’t support dangerous fracking projects like the Appalachia Storage and Trading Hub.
It's not just local communities that will be facing a fracking endgame — this storage hub will undermine our broader efforts to fight the worst effects of climate change too.
Send a message to your member of Congress today and make sure they know to keep funding for fracking projects out of the highway bill.
