We’ve got a problem, John.

Even though Democrats defied expectations last November, we still fell short in several key races. That’s at least partly because, as a contributor in The Hill put it, “GOP voter suppression measures are working.”

Now, Republicans are openly boasting that new anti-voting measures helped them win.

“[F]ormer Georgia GOP senator Kelly Loeffler is bragging that her party reelected Governor Brian Kemp and scored big wins in the state legislature at least partly because of voter-suppressing Senate Bill 202, the February 2021 law that severely curtailed the state’s absentee ballot and vote by mail programs.”

The MAGA Republican agenda doesn’t have popular support.

They want to ban abortion, end Social Security and Medicare, and give handouts to their wealthy donors. Rather than trying to win over voters, they’re making it harder for Black, Brown, disabled, elderly, and poor voters to oppose them.

That’s not democracy, John.

We can’t sit idly by while the GOP brags that voter suppression is helping them win.
