We wanted to make sure you saw Andy’s recent email. Yesterday was the 10-year anniversary of the Citizens United decision, which changed politics as we know it, and has left our democracy vulnerable to billionaires, special interests, and dark money.
Team,
From the minute I announced this campaign I knew I was running to represent you and your families, not dark money and special interests that have for too long permeated our politics.
10 years ago today, the Supreme Court decided the Citizens United case and determined that corporations were people, and money was speech. This decision shattered politics as we know it, and has left our democracy vulnerable to billionaires, special interests, and dark money.
During my first year in Congress, I’m proud to have been a leader on a bill from Congressional Democrats to fix our democracy by ending the reign of corporate and special interest big money. The government should be working for you, not for special interest dark money.
Now I need you. Add your name right now to stand against the disastrous Citizens United decision and help take our democracy back →
I’ve never taken a dime of corporate PAC money, and I never will -- because I’m in Congress to represent you and your interests.
But one thing is clear: the Citizens United decision made our democracy and government weaker, and left it vulnerable to big checks from wealthy donors. I won’t stand for that. Add your name right now to stand against Citizens United, on the 10 year anniversary of the decision.
Thanks,
Andy
