I just wanted to be certain you saw this update: According to a leaked document from a closed-door GOP meeting, I’ve been listed as a top target in 2024. I am one of just 17 Democrats whose seats they’re going all in to flip red.
I can’t say I’m surprised, friend. As a freshman member in a swing district, Republicans know that 2024 is probably their best and only shot at retaking this seat. But what was surprising is what the NRCC chairman admitted in the leaked materials: The Democrats’ small-dollar, online fundraising advantage could hurt their chances of keeping the House.
They know we have the support of individual donors and local Illinoisans, and since the GOP’s grassroots support is weak, they’re planning to attack me using cash from corporate PACs and dark money groups. Folks, if that’s not a direct challenge to Democratic donors everywhere, I don't know what is.
I know it’s early, but we need to get moving quickly if we want to defend this seat. So in light of this news from the GOP, we’re looking for a LARGE number of donations to come in. That’s the best way to stay in an early position of strength:
