Protecting Wildlife from Disease

Moose, elk, and deer are susceptible to Chronic Wasting Disease.  Photo by Debbie Leff

With Chronic Wasting Disease detected a mere 20 miles from Glacier's boundary, park biologists are ramping up their efforts to detect emergent diseases and stop them in their tracks. Your support makes that work possible.

Your effortswhich made Waterton-Glacier the world's first transboundary dark sky parkare really paying off!

This past week we were treated to a spectacular show of the aurora borealis, with green and pink bursts dancing in the deep dark of Glacier's night sky.

We're proud to have Montana Shirt Co. as one of our partners!
Here's why they support GNPC:

"Glacier National Park is a national treasure and one of the most beautiful places in the world. Being a local company that's all about Montana, we love the opportunity to work with the Conservancy and the park.

The Conservancy and its team fund many great projects throughout the year and consistently make the park a better place to visit. We love getting the chance to play a role in this in any way we can.

We use our apparel to do good things. So by supporting the Glacier Conservancy, we are helping preserve and protect the beauty and wilderness for the future."

MARCH

March 15:
Glacier Book Club featuring First Rangers

Join a discussion with editor Will Harmon and researcher Ann Fagre about the book, First Rangers. A special breed of adventurer, the first forest rangers were among the explorers, mountain men, lawmen, and pioneers who made America. First Rangers details the exploits of two of these men, told mostly in their own words. Written in the saddle while riding along the trail, or on a log at camp, or at a table in a dimly lit cabin, these stories bring to life a bygone era.

MAY

May 17:
Glacier Book Club featuring Last Stand and author Michael Punke

From the author of the #1 bestselling book, The Revenant, comes the story of the American West through the lens of the bison. Over the last three decades of the nineteenth century, 30 million buffalo were reduced to twelve. Into that maelstrom rode young George Bird Grinnell. A scientist, journalist, hunter and conservationist, Grinnell would lead the battle to save this species. Last Stand is the story of the death of the old West, and the birth of the conservation movement.
