From October to December 2022, there were more illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border than American citizens who were living in the Memphis metro area.

Let that sink in.

Just days ago, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced 251,487 individuals illegally crossed into the United States at our southern border in December 2022 alone. That compares to just 40,565 in December 2020 during the Trump administration. And while those reading this likely reside hundreds of miles from the border, the vast number of people crossing have given every state, including Mississippi, border-state problems.

The Memphis metro area has experienced a massive influx of crime. In fact, Neighborhood Scout reports that Memphis is now “safer than 0% of U.S. cities.” Moreover, due to the proximity to I-55, the area has become the center for illicit drug distribution in America – hardly the type of characteristic any family-oriented community, like ours, desires in a neighbor.

At a time when the federal government refuses to address this crisis, it is critical that local leaders do everything possible to at least make our communities a stop of last resort for drug cartels and illegal immigrants.

Sadly, progressive district attorneys in much of the country have gone soft on crime, allowing their communities to become sanctuaries for traffickers and criminal kingpins. It is time to put a stop to that for our families and our communities.

As you may know, I recently announced my candidacy for District Attorney for District 23. As DeSoto County’s top law enforcement officer, I will protect our neighborhoods from becoming a haven for illegal immigrants. I will prosecute drug cartels, push for fast deportations, and fight for the strongest penalties possible. In doing so, we will eliminate the current dangers and discourage future illicit activity.

In short, my mission as your District Attorney will be to protect the good, law-abiding citizens of Mississippi and deter criminals who chase families and good-paying jobs away. DeSoto County is not their playground, and we will not allow them to overrun our communities or threaten our families’ safety and peace.

While policies at the federal level have failed to prioritize safety within our borders, we have the power to safeguard our own communities. DeSoto County is tough. But as your District Attorney, I will make sure illegal immigrants and cartels face an even tougher criminal justice system.
