We just became the 1st campaign in all of Philly to file for office . . . You are receiving this email as one of Alexandra’s most engaged followers. My dad is a soccer coach and when I started trying out for varsity teams and A teams and even thinking about playing in college, the only advice he gave me was make yourself impossible to cut. That might be considered some strange advice to give — it wasn’t try your best or practice until you’re the best, but just make yourself impossible to cut. So I did. I made myself the hardest working player on every team. I outworked people for their spot on the roster, for their starting spot on the field, for the captain role, for the most valuable player award. Coaches couldn’t cut me because I worked hard enough to be a threat to everyone who was getting too comfortable in their seat. I made myself impossible to cut by building a reputation for myself that I was going to reliably show up and give everything I was doing 100% of my effort. There are a lot of political pundits who are trying to cut our campaign out of the picture. They’re trying to minimize our seriousness, our effort, and our qualifications to be in this race. They’re hoping that by throwing hurdle after hurdle in our direction and making the pathway to victory impossibly steep, that eventually we’ll give up and go away. But they’re attempting to do this to a chronic underdog who is impossible to cut. Today, our campaign filed our petitions for City Controller. We still need to continue to collect petitions to secure our place on the ballot, but we wanted to make sure we sent the political pundits a message by being the first campaign to file for office in the entire city. You can count us in. In order to be in, we need your support. Will you rush a contribution of any amount to our 100% people-funded campaign? Help make our campaign impossible to cut. Chip in now >> I couldn’t do this without you. Seeing the systemic obstacles her brother faced inspired Alexandra to become an advocate and challenge barriers on the basis of race, gender, class, and ability. Now, Alexandra's running to be the Philly's next City Controller because the people in Philly work too hard for too little. And right now, line items in budgets create lines for food and health care. It's time to elect a City Controller who is going to prioritize the needs of the communities Philly's money comes from. Contribute Merch Shop FOLLOW ALEXANDRA ON Alexandra M.
