John, my heart is
so full.

On Sunday, our community came together for a ceremonial swearing-in and
celebration in Pittsburgh. Since the official DC swearing-in ceremony
happened in the middle of the night (and after my mom and grandma had gone
home), it meant the world to me to be with my friends, family, and the
people that made this happen.

When I first got involved in politics, there were a lot of naysayers —
people who doubted that a young Black woman could build a winning
coalition campaigning on Medicare for All and a Green New Deal. And when I
ran for Congress, corporate super PACs and dark money groups spent
millions trying to keep me out of the halls of power.

But, together, as a multi-racial, multi-generational movement we proved
that the Power of the People is greater than the people with power. On
November 8, we showed that when we build coalitions of people of all
races, religions, genders, and ages, we can't be stopped.

This wouldn't have been possible without supporters like
you, John. I'm honored and
grateful to serve as Pennsylvania's first Black Congresswoman and proud to
represent PA-12 in the House of Representatives.

Now, I'm ready to tackle the dark money and corporate greed that's
corrupted our politics — whether it be our health care system and
environmental polluters or campaign finance and the gun lobby. And I'm
hoping I can continue to rely on your support.
