After visiting the Columbus airport, I had a productive meeting with the Chattahoochee Boy Scouts of America. We discussed their work with the Corps of Engineers to extend land leases and ways to strengthen the Chattahoochee Chapter.

Following meeting with the Chattahoochee Boy Scouts of America, I went over to the National Infantry Museum in Columbus. Thank you to Retired Colonel Andy Redmond, Retired General Pete Jones, and the folks at the museum for hosting me. The National Infantry Museum is home to one of the greatest collections of military artifacts in the world and highlights the values that define America’s Infantrymen.

Following the tour, I sat down with Chuck Williams, WRBL reporter, for a wide-ranging conversation about the National Infantry Museum, the outlook for the 118th Congress, and a number of other topics.

On Tuesday, I traveled to Lamar County to visit with the folks at Arete Canine. This company does important work training K9s for police and military work – including detection of narcotics and explosives – and is internationally recognized for their dedicated services.

Later in the day, I attended the Rotary Club of Meriwether County meeting. It was a pleasure to speak with President Al Griffin and Rotary Club members. I’m proud to have organizations in Georgia's Third Congressional District that actively work to positively impact our local community.

On Thursday, I started the day by attending the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce meeting. I appreciated the opportunity to speak with local business owners and hear directly from them about some of the issues they face in our community. I also provided a legislative update to the group and took questions.

After touring the Bremen Bowdon Investment Company, I caught up with Carrollton Mayor Betty Cason and learned more about the Carroll County Crisis Response Team. Working alongside law enforcement, the Crisis Response Team responds to calls related to mental health issues and ensures folks get the proper treatment.

The Biden Administration's infringement on the privacy rights of American citizens is an aggressive bank surveillance regime that requires banks and other financial institutions to provide the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) details on any bank accounts with deposits or withdrawals of more than $600. What this amounts to is allowing the IRS to snoop through the bank accounts of millions of Americans – all in an attempt to chase down an ill-defined "tax gap" that may or may not even exist.

I’ve heard from many Georgians on this issue, which is why I proudly introduced the Prohibiting IRS Financial Surveillance Act to ban the IRS from implementing any new reporting requirements for banks or other financial institutions. 

This surveillance is an invasion of privacy and it's in every American's best interest that we protect their private financial information. By hiring 87,000 new agents to harass and audit thousands of hardworking families, farmers, and small businesses without probable cause, the Democrat’s intent to weaponize the IRS is crystal clear and this important legislation stops this radical, big-government overreach.
