John, I have some big news: I am officially running for U.S. Senate! I’m so excited to get to share my story and what I stand for with supporters like you.

From growing up in the segregated South and having to get an abortion as a teenager in a back-alley clinic in Mexico, to becoming one of the highest-ranking Black women appointed to Democratic leadership – my story is the epitome of the American dream. My lived experience as a Black woman has prepared me to continue to fight for justice in the Senate and build a progressive future for all of us.

Since coming to Congress almost 25 years ago, I’ve fought my heart out to advance our shared values. I’ve stood alone to say no to endless wars, led the fight to enact our progressive agenda, and held the line against Republican attempts to roll back our progress. 

But we also can’t deny that there is still much work to do – from taking on the climate crisis, to helping people out of poverty, to stopping MAGA extremists who want to control people's bodies and dismantle our democracy. That’s why in this video, I’m making our vision about our journey forward as clear as possible.

In the rough path ahead, we must remain committed to championing justice. It’s a lifelong mission that calls for courage, not convenience, and that’s what I plan to have as I fight for my community and families across the country. But in a race experts have predicted to be California’s most expensive race in history, I need your support now more than ever.
