Hi John,

There’s been a lot going on in the country (and in Texas) lately, and there’s a lot to worry about these days.

But right now, we want you to focus on one thing. Something we’re working hard to stop.

Texas Speaker of the House, Dade Phelan, and his allies are actively compiling a list of ways to gut Texas public education.

And they’re making school vouchers one of their key legislative priorities — no matter what the cost to our kids, our public schools, and Texas teachers. The truth about school vouchers is that the consequences — especially for our neighborhood schools — would be devastating.

That’s real, and that’s dangerous for all of our families.

But we’re not powerless here — we can fight back and prevent school vouchers from passing in the TX Lege. And here at Mothers Against Greg Abbott, that’s exactly what we’re doing.

If you’re with us, please make a $10 donation today and help support our work. Every day, we’re focused on championing the issues that impact everyday families and making sure that mothers (and others like us) have a voice in the process.

Our work here in Texas has been incredibly successful thanks to donations from people like you, and for that, we just want to say —

Thank you!

TODAY - Tuesday, 21 February, we need you to call your Texas House representative and senator and let them know you support public education!

Tell them you:

  • Want public schools to be fully funded

  • Oppose school vouchers

  • Support teachers - they deserve a significant pay raise

Remember, Texas has a $33B surplus this year. Not only that, there’s close to $27B in the “rainy day” fund. No more excuses. This is our money, and we want public schools funded.

Some facts:

Texas ranks 44th in dollars spent per student ($9,871 compared to $15,120 on average for the U.S.). Teacher salaries also lag by $7,500 annually compared with the national average.

In 2022, Texas ranked 34th out of 50 states in K-12 public education per U.S. News and World Report. That’s despite the fact that we’re the ninth largest economy IN THE WORLD. It’s clear that decades of under-funding of our public schools have led to this dismal state.

The answer isn’t school vouchers. It’s fully funding our schools! Call your Texas reps on Tuesday, 21 February.
