Dear John.
This past weekend, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel made shockingly dangerous comments on Iran. He said the U.S. retains military options to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran but that Israel "can do whatever they need" on Iran, "and we’ve got their back." [[link removed]]
This is a stunning apparent “green light” by a U.S. official suggesting Israel can start a war with Iran and the U.S. will follow. It comes on the heels of the massive “Juniper Oak” military exercise [[link removed]] simulating a joint U.S.-Israel military strike on Iran. And in just the past month, Israel has struck Iranian targets in both Iran and Syria, Iran struck back at an oil tanker owned by an Israeli billionaire, and now Iran has taken the unprecedented step of enriching uranium to near-weapons grade.
Tensions are rising rapidly and the U.S. risks sleepwalking into a military conflict. Bombing Iran would be a devastating blow to the Iranian people who are struggling for freedom and all but guarantee Iran's government breaks out to build nuclear weapons.
Take action now to demand that the Biden Administration publicly rescind Ambassador Nides’ comments and clarify that there is no U.S. greenlight for Israel military strikes on Iran and the U.S. will not unconditionally support Israel if it starts a war with Iran.
TAKE ACTION [[link removed]]
NIAC has led the fight against disastrous U.S. backed war for decades and we cannot let up now – we must step up to meet this moment. Take action today and demand the White House take back Ambassador Nides’ comments and stand against a war that would further disenfranchise Iranian people.
Jamal Abdi
President, NIAC
