As we celebrate Black History Month, we must reflect on the sacrifices and accomplishments of Black Americans who left an unwavering mark on our history.
Every facet of our nation’s rich culture and society has benefited from the contributions of Black Americans, from the arts to our country’s continuous developments in the field of science.
While there is so much to celebrate, we must recognize the struggle that Black Americans still face every day.
We must persistently work to dismantle systemic racism in our country while also addressing the racially influenced economic inequality and voter suppression, all of which leave millions of Black Americans vulnerable. We must pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act as soon as possible.
We cannot continue to look past the inequalities and social injustices prevalent in our country–we must continue fighting for a fair and inclusive democracy where everyone can thrive.
Onward,
Jerry
