We’re tired of Israel's discrimination against US citizens so we're doing something about it

Dear Email,

As promised, AJP Action continues to advocate for Palestinian rights, including fair, safe, and dignified entry of Palestinian-Americans and all Americans into Palestine and the Occupied Territories. Today, I’m writing to announce the launch of AJP Action’s latest project, the Israeli Discrimination Hotline. This hotline has been created to support Palestinian-Americans, or any U.S. citizen, in navigating challenges (detainment, denial of entry, etc.) faced at the Israeli borders or within the occupied territories.

If you or a loved one face any mistreatment by Israeli authorities and need support, please reach out to AJP Action's Israeli Discrimination hotline by dialing (844) 939-0921or filling out our incident form.

Israel has mistreated U.S. citizens for decades, killing, detaining and severely injuring human rights defenders and American citizens, young and old, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. In addition, Israel has systematically discriminated against U.S. citizens based on ethnicity, religion, and political viewpoint by denying them entry to Occupied Palestinian Territory—a fact the State Department openly acknowledges on its website. This discrimination impacts Palestinian-Americans most severely; denying them opportunities to visit, work, and live in their homeland, and interfering in their family life.

Last year, two Palestinian-Americans (Shireen Abu Akleh and Omar Assad) were murdered by Israeli Occupation Forces. Others have been detained and/or faced extreme difficulty entering or moving freely within Palestine.

One of the most recent cases was 22-year-old Hala Salameh, a Palestinian-American and resident of St. Louis, Missouri. Hala was detained and held by Israeli authorities for 3 days after attempting to enter Jerusalem with her family last December. AJP Action's advocacy through the Department of State and Members of Congress ensured Hala's release. We are committed to continuing this work, not only in being reactive in supporting cases such as Hala’s, but also to holding Israel accountable and preventing such injustices from occurring.

Do you know anyone who can benefit from our hotline and has recently suffered Israeli mistreatment while trying to enter or move within Palestine? Be sure to share it with them and spread the word!

Sincerely,

Dr. Osama Abu Irshaid
