March with CND this Saturday: part of the Europe-wide protests for peace ? Vladimir Putin's suspension of the New START treaty is the latest escalation in the dangerous game being played by the nuclear powers. As the invasion of Ukraine approaches its first anniversary, the killing and misery is set to continue as heavy weaponry continues to flow into the country. ? CND is asking our supporters to join us in London this Saturday, for a national demonstration to call for peace in Ukraine and to speak out against a new nuclear arms race.
We demand the immediate removal of Russian troops from Ukraine, an end to NATO's escalation of the conflict, and for the UK government to engage in securing a diplomatic solution to the war - instead of using it as a pretext for more defence spending during a cost of living crisis.? |

But we're not alone! Voices for a speedy and peaceful conclusion to war are growing across Europe. In Germany, a petition calling on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to lead peace negotiations has gathered over half a million signatures. ? Meanwhile this weekend will see dozens of protests will take place across towns, cities, and capitals from Italy to Germany, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, France, and Belgium. We will all be calling for an end to the Russian invasion, and for our respective governments to back peace talks instead of fuelling the conflict with more weapons. ? Those attending all demonstrations have been asked to tweet images and reports using #EuropeForPeace. |
