Thank you for supporting The Trevor Project’s 24/7, free, confidential suicide prevention and crisis intervention work. These life-saving services will always be the heart and soul of our mission.
One initiative that your generosity helps support is “It’s Still Happening” — our campaign to protect LGBTQ young people from conversion therapy.
Sometimes referred to as “reparative therapy,” or “sexual orientation/gender identity change efforts,” conversion therapy is a range of dangerous and discredited practices that purport to change one’s sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Simply put: conversion therapy is cruelty — and can be life-threatening. Trevor’s research team found that LGBTQ young people who underwent conversion therapy were more than twice as likely to report having attempted suicide and more than 2.5 times as likely to report multiple suicide attempts in the past year.
Since Trevor began its fight against conversion therapy — which caring people like you power with your generosity! — 27 states and 100 localities have passed bans to protect young people from conversion therapy. Your gift today will keep this momentum going!
