Join trade union women and activists mobilizing collective worker action to ensure that platform work is decent work for all workers!

The gig economy is growing fast—but while app-based work offers many jobs, workers generally are paid so little they must work long hours in often unsafe conditions to get by.

Our dynamic panel of union activists will share how they are mobilizing and organizing platform-based drivers, food deliverers and others who face similar conditions around the world as corporations take advantage of this new labor model that lowers wages, decreases worker autonomy and provides few, if any, job protections.

Women in the gig economy are especially at risk, with increased exposure to gender-based violence and harassment and precarious working conditions. But platform workers, with women at the forefront, are organizing to tackle the challenges that the gig economy is posing to decent work and equality.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Arabic, Spanish, and French.
