Friend,
The new data on gun trafficking in the United States is horrifying. Over 1 million guns were reported stolen between 2017-2021, according to a recent comprehensive report by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) – the first of its kind in over 20 years.1 Even worse? The ATF estimates hundreds of thousands of other stolen guns were never even reported; the report also emphasizes that PA is one of the states that does not mandate the reporting of missing weapons. We must reduce the flow of illegal guns fueling the gun violence epidemic. We must pass legislation in Pennsylvania to require lost and stolen gun reporting.
