John, today is Presidents’ Day. And it's the worst kept secret in the Commonwealth that Glenn Younkin wants to one day be among the names recognized on this federal holiday.
Ask yourself: why would a governor spend his time pushing the anti-trans panic rhetoric that you'd hear on a primetime Fox News broadcast? Why did he devote so much effort in 2022 supporting far-right candidates around the country like Kari Lake? Why does he continue to introduce abortion bans that are widely opposed by Virginians?
Youngkin has been using the power of the governor's mansion to appeal to GOP primary voters in advance of a future presidential run. And he'd love to have a legislative trifecta next year to help him score more points.
John, I wanted to "wish" Glenn Young a happy "Not-Presidents’ Day." I want to show him that we're sick of him pushing a far-right agenda that divides our Commonwealth and makes vulnerable people feel more afraid. What Youngkin has done in office is not worthy of the presidency whatsoever, and it's my hope that this November, Virginians send him a clear message by fully denying him a legislative trifecta.
