Friend,
Last week I passed my one-month-in-office mark and the pace isn't slowing down! We're in the middle of tax season, the General Assembly Session is in full swing, and my Transition Team is about to release its report. Today I'm in Annapolis for meetings with leaders and my Senate budget hearing!
Some of my earliest meetings have been with local elected officials and General Assembly committees to ensure I am hearing from them how the Office of the Comptroller can be a good partner in serving all Marylanders across the state. I also met with the Maryland Mayors Association last week in Annapolis at their annual meeting! These conversations have been informative, energizing and productive, and I look forward to strong partnerships in the years ahead.

I've also been busy highlighting important programs that the Office of the Comptroller supports, including hosting a press conference to promote the tax-based "Easy Enrollment" program that allows citizens to access information about available health insurance plans, which are typically available at low or no cost. I also visited WBAL, WBFF and WJZ this past weekend to talk about Shop Maryland Energy Weekend. One important part of the job of being the people's advocate is ensuring that you and all Marylanders know about the important initiatives that exist to help build financial resiliency.
Last but not least, I wanted to let you know that I did receive the birthday messages that so many of you sent in response to last week's email. Thank you! It was so fun seeing so many names and supportive messages. I really appreciate so many people (including our Governor!) for taking the time to offer greetings.
Please stay in touch and on the lookout for more news and updates.
My Best,
Brooke
