That the Senate is an undemocratic institution is not headline news, but it is much, much more undemocratic than most people probably realize. Take this startling stat for example: Democrats have won the popular vote for Senate in all but one election since 1990 but have emerged with a Senate majority in less than half of the elections held in that time.

Overcoming the Senate's extreme bias for rural, white Americans—a demographic that overwhelmingly leans toward Republicans—to win majorities will take an extraordinary effort each and every election cycle, and Daily Kos has an important role to play in that.

Daily Kos has an endorsement program unlike any other. Our endorsements aren't one-off actions. They are part of a strategic campaign to find the weak points in the Republican Party's grip on power and break them.
