John,

Kroger and Albertsons, two of the country’s largest supermarket chains, are currently in merger negotiations. The proposed $25 billion mega-merger would drive out competition, increase prices, create food access disparity, and put people’s jobs at risk.

At a time when families are already struggling with skyrocketing food prices from a hyper-consolidated grocery industry, the notion of another mega-merger between corporate food giants couldn’t be more alarming. It’s bad news for everyone except Wall Street deal-makers.

Join us in demanding the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) intervene and stop this massive corporate merger!

Kroger and Albertsons already own a staggering 22% of the market share of grocery stores. This mega-merger between them would create a retail behemoth second in size only to Walmart – incorporating over 25 companies.

And it’s not just grocery stores. Only a handful of corporations make the rules at every step in our food system, from factory farm, to factory floor, to our kitchen tables. This not only affects the prices at the grocery store, but conditions for workers, the quality of our food, and the sustainability of our climate.

Kroger-Albertsons deal is still in the works – which means the FTC still has the power to intervene and stop it! But it’s up to us to make our voices heard. For the sake of families, farmers, and workers, the FTC should reject this terrible proposal immediately.

Send a message to the FTC today: Stop the Kroger-Albertsons mega-merger now!

Together, we can achieve a food system that works for everyone, not just corporate giants.

P.S. Ten additional advocacy groups, labor unions, produce growers, antitrust experts, state Attorneys General and members of Congress, including Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, oppose the merger and already are urging the FTC to stop it. The agency needs to hear from you, too!
