Good morning, - It's been 40 days since the Texas legislature session began its 140 day session and activists are beginning to wonder why the Texas House is moving so slowly. They will return on Tuesday after a 5 day break. Before adjourning last week, State Rep. Tony Tinderholt questioned the prudence of the House leaving with the legislative clock ticking.
- The Legislature finally has their emergency priorities from Gov. Greg Abbott, following his State of the State Address. These are the items they are allowed to pass ahead of the 60th day of the session, while most bills must wait:
- Cutting Property Taxes
- End COVID Restrictions
- Education Freedom (School Choice)
- School Safety
- Ending Revolving-door Bail
- Doing More to Secure the Border
- Addressing the Fentanyl Crisis
This week... - The Texas Senate is scheduled to return on Tuesday, February 21, at 11am.
- The Texas House is scheduled to return on Tuesday, February 21, at pm.
