John,
Since being sworn in to the House of Representatives, I’m often asked the same question: Can anything get done in a divided Congress?
My answer is a strong yes – as long as we work for it.
It is no doubt frustrating that the bills we’ve seen from Republican leadership are more focused on messaging than on real policy, and that their messages are so clearly at odds with what the American people want.
I am looking for no-nonsense partners on the other side of the aisle, and within my own caucus as well, who are not going to play games with the budget and our deficit. I’m glad to report that there are so many of us who want nothing more than to get to work on the issues that matter most. (Some of us even discussed our commitment to bipartisan progress with the Washington Post!)([link removed])
I am proud to be part of a freshman class in Congress that is committed to making real progress and recognizes our immense bipartisan overlap on infrastructure investments, immigration reform, and more.
I’m asking you today to invest $10 or whatever you can spare to make sure I have the resources to stay in office as a bipartisan problem-solver.
