Dear John,
This week, we witnessed the Administration shoot down multiple unidentified objects in American skies. When my colleagues and I called on the President to address the nation after days of silence from the Administration, he finally spoke to us, but we still don't have many answers, but one thing is absolutely certain: the Chinese Communist Party is a threat to freedom, and we must check their hostile advances. As a member of the China Select Committee, I'll work with my colleagues to hold the CCP accountable and protect our country.
Here in Southern California, I opened my new District office this week, and I'm so excited to welcome and serve constituents of our district in this new space. I also got to meet with fire chiefs, business owners, and even some girl scouts. The people who make up our communities are truly incredible, and I'm so honored to serve them in Congress.
Get the details about all of this and more below, and make sure to follow my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to get these updates in real-time.

We Must Hold the CCP Accountable |
|
The surveillance balloon that recently flew over U.S. airspace is a clear demonstration of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s hostility toward us and our allies. But for some reason, the Biden Administration allowed the balloon to fly over the entire continental United States before shooting it down. Since then, several additional unidentified objects have been shot down, and we still don't have answers from the Administration.
As a member of the House Select Committee on China, I know the dangers the poses to our country and the rest of the free world. My colleagues and I are committed to holding the CCP accountable and protecting the American people. The President should show the world he has the same commitment.

I was glad to convene a roundtable with Fire Chiefs from around our district to discuss the ongoing threats that wildfires pose to our community and how we can build better federal-local partnerships to protect Southern Californians.

It was a real treat getting to spend some time this week with some of our local girl scouts.
They’re the sweetest future female leaders you could ever hope to meet – and they have the best cookies too!

Get Your Education, Serve Our Nation |
|
For students considering their next steps after high school, the Military Service Academies present an exciting opportunity to receive a world-class education and unmatched leadership skills, paid for by the U.S. Military. The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.
Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA); the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA); and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
To request a Military Academy Nomination from my office, please complete the form on my website, and someone my office will be in touch with additional information. In the mean time, visit my website to learn more about the application process.

It was wonderful to be with local business owners in Artesia this week to discuss the challenges they’re facing and what I’m doing in Congress to get our economy back on track.
Our small businesses are at the heart of our communities, and I’m committed to having their backs!

I'm very pleased to see the great partnership between the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP) and Home Depot to help remodel a veteran's home in our community. Our vets deserve the best and I’m so proud of this team for their commitment to giving back to a local hero!

I stopped by Bracken's Kitchen in Garden Grove to get a taste of how they’re working to recover food waste, train at risk and underprivileged kids with culinary skills and provide good tasting quality food to those in need. More than 300,000 people in Orange County and 2 million people in LA County are facing food insecurity. The team at Brackens is working to meet that need by serving over 1.4 million meals per year. Keep up the great work!

The 2022 Congressional App Challenge Winner, Joyce De Quiros, stopped by the office this week. Joyce's app, "Impact," seeks to improve youth awareness of world events by connecting them with news and resources to get involved with issues they care about. With students like her developing their STEM skills, the future of America is very bright!
