The Citizens United decision was passed down one decade ago today. Ten years ago, it was harmful to our society, and it remains to be today.
This decision enshrined the idea that “money is speech” into law. It created the rise of super PACs that enable the ultra-rich to funnel huge sums of money into elections, oftentimes anonymously.
We cannot make true progress as a nation when the top one percent can spend seemingly unlimited amounts of money to buy legislators that will protect their fortunes instead of looking after those Americans living paycheck to paycheck.
That’s why Kim is not taking a dime of corporate PAC money. Instead, we’re relying on grassroots donations from across the country to power this campaign. We’ve seen people give just a few bucks from places like Wyoming and Florida because they realize how important it is to elect a true warrior to represent TX-24.
When Kim’s in Congress, she won’t be representing the needs of millionaire donors, she’ll be representing real Texans.
