Rep. Troy E. Nehls Visits Train Derailment Site in East Palestine, Ohio Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington Rep. Troy E. Nehls Visits Train Derailment Site in East Palestine, Ohio As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, I visited East Palestine, Ohio, to meet with local leaders and see the status of the Norfolk Southern train derailment and recovery efforts firsthand. What’s clear is that there is a lot of work to do. I thank the first responders and personnel on site for all their efforts thus far. I will work in a bipartisan effort to ensure our freight rail system is as safe as possible and prevent tragedies like this from occurring again. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Introduces Productivity Over Pronouns Act I introduced the Productivity Over Pronouns Act of 2023, which would prohibit Federal funding to Executive Branch agencies that perpetuate gender neutral and inclusive language, such as pronouns and other “preferred terms.” Specifically, this bill would prohibit the use of Federal funds for any program, project, or activity within any agency in the Executive Branch that provides principles, resources, or specific suggestions for gender neutral or inclusive language or inclusive communication principles. Read more freebeacon.com This Week in TX-22 Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Tools to Help Taxpayers Through Tax Filing Season The IRS recommends trying the following to self-help resources available to taxpayers 24/7: IRS.gov offers a variety of online tools to help taxpayers answer common tax questions. For example, taxpayers can search the Interactive Tax Assistant, Tax Topics and Frequently Asked Questions to find answers. IRS Online Account gives taxpayers secure access to personal tax account information including balance, payments and tax records with previous year’s adjusted gross income information. IRS Free File provides eligible taxpayers who want to prepare their own returns free tax preparation and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) or Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free tax help from certified volunteers at thousands of sites across the country. Department of State: Update on Passport Processing Times As of Monday, February 6, 2023, Passport Services' processing times will rise due to a seasonal increase in applications. Processing times can be 8-11 weeks for routine processing and 5-7 weeks for expedited processing. These times do not include mail delivery service estimates.
