Farming families are facing an unprecedented crisis. 

 

My name is Aklilu, and I am the Country Director for Ripple Effect Ethiopia. I've worked for Ripple Effect for over a decade, and during my time here, I can say that right now, farming families in east Africa are facing the worst hunger emergency of a generation.

 

Farming families in Ethiopia and the other five countries where we work have been hit by a triple crisis. First the Covid-19 pandemic, then the increased cost-of-living and now extreme drought caused by the climate crisis. As a result, families are at risk of going hungry.
