In Maryland, Nurse Practitioners&rsquo; Patients Gain New Rights
As of January 1, Maryland patients under the care of a nurse practitioner can receive home health care services from that NP, including wound care, physical and occupational therapy, and much more. The state received a waiver to a federal law that had allowed such home services to only those under a physician&rsquo;s care.

Nurses Step Outside the Hospital to Improve Neighbors&rsquo; Health
Nurses at Illinois&rsquo; OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center have boosted the health of neighbors in two underserved communities through an innovative six-part program. They partner with churches, help support a garden, deliver services from their CARE-A-VAN, and more, to promote access to care, reduce food insecurity, and improve health outcomes.

This Just In: 2018 Data From National Sample Survey of RNs
Since 1977, the Health Resources & Services Administration has conducted the National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses. Now data from 2018 are available, in HRSA&rsquo;s ongoing effort to evaluate trends and project the supply of nursing resources.

Mass. Action Coalition Anti-Vaping Curriculum in the News
To help confront a vaping epidemic in his public schools, the superintendent in Norton, Mass., turned to the Massachusetts Action Coalition. He knew that the organization had already begun an anti-vaping effort, a project funded as part of its 2018 and 2019 Nursing Innovations Fund.

Survey Seeks Ways to Support Nurse Family Caregivers
More nurses are caring for family members and friends even while outside their workplace, and the Difference Collaborative wants to understand how employers can better support these nurses. Nurse managers, leaders, and HR directors are asked to participate in the Nurse Family Caregiver Intervention Scorecard, an anonymous, 10-minute survey.

New - Hosts Sought for Regional Meetings on Complex Care
After it wrote its blueprint to help those with complex needs, the National Center for Complex Health & Social Needs was asked to guide others in creating coordinated systems of care at the local level. That is why it will hold six regional meetings in 2020, and invites organizations to apply to host. Deadline: February 29.

The doors are open to applications for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation&rsquo;s four leadership programs: Clinical Scholars, Health Policy Research Scholars, Interdisciplinary Research Leaders, and Culture of Health Leaders. Deadline for the Culture of Health program: February 19. Deadline for the others: March 11.

Funds to Nursing Schools Support Would-Be Faculty
To increase the number of qualified nurse faculty, the Health Resources and Services Administration offers its Nurse Faculty Loan Program. Funds help nursing schools give loans to students who aim to become faculty members. Deadline: February 3.
