Hi John, It’s news you may have missed, but the leadership position of one of the world’s most powerful financial institutions is up for grabs. The President of the World Bank has announced that he will step down. This clears the path for someone new to take control of the bank’s mission to end extreme poverty. Names are being circulated and an opportunity to change the way this powerful bank works is on the horizon. In its eighty year history the World Bank has done many things, but it hasn’t kept pace with a changing world. For example there has never been a female President of the World Bank! We believe that with a new leader should come a new bank, and that now is the time for a reset, to make the bank fit for the future. Do you agree? Sign our petition.
The way the World Bank works is to reduce global poverty and help countries to thrive, by providing resources and sharing knowledge with governments in low and middle income countries. It is largely controlled by some of the richest nations in the world - who have the power to decide its leader. Right now we’re all facing a long list of challenges which no country can solve alone, so we need our global institutions to work. Sign our petition. We will use it to show the governments with the power to appoint the new President that the public supports changes to how the World Bank is run.
