Dear john,

This week marked the first week of a two-week long District Work Period. I took advantage of this time in our community to sit down with the mayors and city staff of several cities in the district. I'm so grateful for the work being done by our local governments, and I want to thank the cities of Lawrenceville, Duluth, Norcross, and Lilburn for taking the time to share their concerns and priorities with my office. I look forward to our continued partnership in the weeks and months ahead. As we continue this District Work Period, I will continue to meet with the rest of our city governments in the district.

On Tuesday, I was proud to announce $7.5 million in federal funding to Georgia that will support Extreme Risk Protection Orders for crisis intervention and to stop gun violence. This is a result of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, legislation I helped get signed into law last year. Extreme risk protection orders have demonstrated to be an effective tool to prevent instances of gun violence and save lives. To learn more about this funding, you can take a look at Tuesday's press release from my office.

On Friday, I met with EPA Region 4 Administrator Daniel Blackman. I was pleased to discuss the region’s priorities, including implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, climate resiliency, and environmental justice initiatives. Our community is lucky to have Administrator Blackman serving in this capacity!
