by putting a spotlight on massive costs of inaction

“Relentless rain, record heat: study finds climate crisis worsened extreme weather” - The Guardian

Team,

If you’ve been alarmed by the severe weather events happening around the country recently, you’re not alone.

California has been experiencing ‘weather whiplash’ – the state swings between relentless drought and record-setting rainstorms. More than 3.4 million Americans had to evacuate their homes due to extreme weather last year. Coastal communities from Rhode Island to Florida are increasingly at risk of having their maps dramatically altered by sea level rise.

If fossil-fuel-funded Republicans had it their way, we wouldn’t do a thing about climate change. What they won’t admit is that inaction is the costliest route – both for families’ budgets and for federal disaster spending.

I’m doing everything in my power to fight climate change and lead our planet to safety. Will you join me by chipping in just $5 to my campaign today?

Stopping climate change is not only good for the planet — it makes a lot more economic sense than letting the climate spiral out of control. Indeed responsible climate action boosts the economy.

Serious warnings about looming climate disasters are coming from central bankers, economists, insurance companies, and credit rating agencies. If we don’t get a handle on emissions, we’re going to see high inflation from decreased crop yields. Coastal property values are poised to crash, which will send shockwaves through the economy. Taxpayers will be on the hook to shell out billions and billions of dollars to deal with cascading natural disasters.

All this doesn’t have to come to pass. We’ve still got a narrow window in which we can avert the most extreme outcomes. I am so grateful to have your support in this fight.
