Howdy Texan,

As we kick off Presidents' Day weekend, I wanted to update you on my work in TX-31 and our nation’s capital.

ON THE DOCKET:

  • Leading a Delegation to the Indo-Pacific
  • Army Futures Command Updates
  • Visiting with Constituents

THE BRIEF:

  • Last year marked record homicide rates for nine U.S. cities as police departments throughout the nation grappled with Democrats’ continued ‘Defund the Police’ movement, soft-on-crime policies, and failed bail reform.
  • Real average hourly earnings for all employees decreased 0.2% from December to January.
  • Last month was the WORST January on U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) record in over 20 years.

LEADING A DELEGATION TO THE INDO-PACIFIC

As Chairman of the Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee, I led a delegation to the Indo-Pacific to meet with military leaders, tour American military bases and discuss national security issues. With China’s increased aggression, making sure our military assets are properly funded in the region and our readiness is maintained is crucial to our national security.

ARMY FUTURES COMMAND UPDATES

Ninety days ago, I sat down with General James Rainey to discuss his vision for Army Futures Command. He recently stopped by to give me updates on their progress since our last meeting and brief me on new initiatives. These routine meetings allow me to ensure Army Futures Command has the resources necessary to succeed.

VISITING WITH CONSTITUENTS

Are you planning a trip to Washington, DC? If so, visit my website carter.house.gov, to set up a tour of the U.S. Capitol and the White House during your trip. While you’re in town, make sure to pop into my office to see a little piece of TX-31 in DC. It is always a treat to meet folks from my district and give them a warm welcome to DC!

As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Follow my Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates.

It is an honor and privilege to represent you and Texas in the United States House.

Sincerely,
John R. Carter
