Hi John, it’s Ben Wikler, the Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. In a moment, I’m going to ask you to split a $15 donation between the Democratic Party of Georgia and our team here in Wisconsin to support our Get out the Vote operation ahead of our critical primary election. But first, I’d like to explain what’s at stake:

Now that the 2022 midterm election season is over, one of the things I hear most from Democratic supporters is that they’re demoralized.

I often focus on what Democratic activists in Wisconsin and nationwide have accomplished. In 2022, we expanded our Democratic Senate majority and massively outperformed expectations in the U.S. House. Here in Wisconsin, we elected a Democratic Governor while a Democrat was President for the first time since 1962, and in Georgia, we re-elected Senator Rev. Warnock to a full term in the Senate. That’s nothing to scoff at, John.

Still, the odds are stacked against us in many places in the country, including Wisconsin and Georgia. I know it can feel disheartening, John, but what if I told you next year we have a real shot to undo the Republican death grip on Wisconsin’s legislature? Well, that’s exactly what’s at stake in our Supreme Court of Wisconsin race on April 4, 2023.

Right now, the balance of our Court is 4-3, tilted in the conservatives’ favor, but my team at WisDems has a chance to replace a conservative justice with one who will represent our values, tilting the court into our favor.

We’ve been investing in our organizing and voter protection programs year-round to win in this moment and upend this power structure. We could have a chance to level the playing field, fix our gerrymandered maps, strike down our 1849 criminal abortion ban, and safeguard democracy nationwide, but we’ll need to tap into the same supporter momentum that allowed us to win this November.

In just a few short days, we’ve got a pivotal primary that will determine whether we’re one step closer to having a pro-democracy judge representing us in Wisconsin’s state Supreme Court or whether we’re shut out of this contest all together.

With so much at stake, I’m counting on supporters like you, John, to dig deep and chip in whatever you can afford to ensure we do not get shut out of this pivotal April election. Can you split a donation now between the Democratic Party of Georgia and my team at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin to support our critical work? >>

Yours in the fight,

Ben Wikler
