Our educators and child care workers are essential
Ayanna was honored to welcome Jaqueline Sanches as her guest to the State of the Union last week.
Jaqueline is an immigrant, a mother, and an extraordinary Early Head Start teacher in Boston — but she struggled to obtain affordable, full-time childcare for her own children.
Educators are facing a workforce *and* childcare crisis. In Boston and across the country, educators like Jaqueline have answered a calling to do this vital work, to pour into our babies and set them on the best path — and yet many can’t afford care for their own babies. That it is unjust, unacceptable, and completely solvable.
That’s why Ayanna is lifting up educators and centering their voices as she fights for strong, meaningful, and intersectional investments in our care economy, like paid leave, affordable and accessible childcare, living wages, and more.
Our educators and childcare workers are essential, and it’s time for bold investments in our care economy that affirm this fundamental truth. If you agree, will you add your name now?
