AZ Central: Arizona Gov. Hobbs launching task force on educator retention, accepting applications

In too many of our communities, educators are leaving the profession — faced with uncompetitive salaries, difficult policies, and lack of funding. This is a serious problem for our students and educators, and it’s one that demands action. That’s why Katie recently announced the creation of a task force focused on educator retention, as she and her administration work to ensure educators are supported and mentored, paid fairly for the hard work they put in, able to access key benefits like health care, and more.

Katie has proposed using 2,000 surplus shipping containers to help expand our state’s affordable housing and shelter options. This would help address ongoing housing issues as folks navigate rising costs, and as businesses work to attract new workers to the state.

Tuition costs are often a major barrier to students hoping to further their education. To help alleviate the financial stress of college, Katie has pledged to create a “Promise for Dreamers” scholarship program that rewards students for their hard work.
