John, we have
less than two weeks to make sure that a police officer in San Francisco is
held accountable for killing an unarmed Black man.

Back in 2017, a San Francisco police officer, Christopher Samayoa, fired
shots through his vehicle window and killed an unarmed man named Keita
O’Neil.

He is survived by his aunt, April Green, and his mother Judy, who have
been fighting tirelessly for justice ever since.

We all know too well how rare it is for a cop to be held accountable for
their actions.

But in a historic move in 2020, former DA Chesa Boudin charged the officer
with voluntary manslaughter for the killing of Keita O’Neil, the first
time ever that a cop was being prosecuted for killing someone on duty in
the city of San Francisco.

Unfortunately, right-wing conservative billionaires and the police union
successfully funded a recall campaign to remove Chesa Boudin from office
and the mayor appointed one of the leaders of the recall, Brooke Jenkins,
as the new DA.

Just recently, DA Jenkins announced she will dismiss the charges against
the officer after she fired the prosecutors that were in charge of the
case under Boudin.

This SFPD officer is SO close to getting away with murder. That’s why
April Green and her lawyer reached out to us to help put pressure on
Attorney General Rob Bonta to take charge of the case.

But John, we only have until
MARCH 1 to make this a reality.

[ [link removed] ]We’ve set up a petition that will demand AG Bonta pick up the case and
prosecute Christopher Samayoa for killing Keita O’Neil. And I need your
support to put pressure on him to take action immediately before DA
Jenkins drops the charges on March 1st. Will you add your name to this
petition to demand AG Bonta lead this prosecution case and ensure the
O’Neil family gets some justice?

I cannot emphasize how important it is for us to take action at this
moment.

The clock is ticking FAST.

If AG Bonta does not assume prosecution before the next calling of the
case on March 1st, another cop will escape legal consequences for
murdering a brother who was completely unarmed!

As I think about Tyre Nichols’ murder, the most recent killing of another
man at the hands of the police, I can’t imagine the pain that the family
would feel if they had to mourn without an ounce of justice for the
officers who brutally beat him to death.

Cops continue to kill us at alarming rates if they know they can get away
with it.

Listen, John, we can’t let
this happen with Keita O’Neil — especially when we put so much effort into
electing Chesa Boudin in 2019 to hold police accountable, only to be
replaced by a DA who cares more about rolling back Chesa’s work than
actually pursuing justice.

The prosecutorial case versus former officer, Christopher Samayoa, must be
assumed by AG Bonta before the DA who is heavily backed by the San
Francisco Police Officers Association drops the case.

[ [link removed] ]We don’t have much time left. We need to act fast and get behind this
petition for AG Bonta to lead the case. Will you sign this petition to
demand just that? If AG Bonta doesn’t act, our hope for justice will be
gone. I need your voice in this cause to respond to this grieving family’s
dire request.

I’m counting on you, John.

Love and appreciate you,

Shaun
