[1]NNU - Medicare for All!
If you’ve been following along with us anytime over the past year, you’ve
probably heard about our Patients Over Profits campaign. It’s our campaign
calling on state and local candidates and elected officials to pledge to
reject campaign donations from the corporate health care industry.
Last year, we secured 70 signers on the Patients Over Profits Pledge. We
are renewing our focus on the pledge this year, and our goal now is to
reach 100 total signers by International Workers’ Day, also known as May
Day (May 1).

In addition to our organizing across the country, this year we’ll be
adding a special focus to organizing in the South. These key states in the
South include: North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and
Tennessee.
We believe the South is ripe for organizing. The South has some of the
lowest health outcomes and highest rates of uninsurance in the country,
has historically low union density, and notably, is where many corporate
health care giants are based. We need to work to ensure that candidates
and elected officials in these states are willing to fight for the health
of the people who live there.
If you live in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Alabama, or
Tennessee, we especially want to work with you this year. But even if you
don’t, we are going to need supporters in every corner of the country to
help build the power of the Patients Over Profits Pledge.
As a volunteer, you’ll help us reach out to elected officials and
candidates to ask them to take the pledge — we’ll give you all the
materials and support you’ll need. [ [link removed] ]Want to help us get elected
officials on the pledge? Sign up here to join the Patients Over Profits
