Rue Landau Lands Key Endorsement
This week, Victory Fund Spotlight candidate Rue Landau landed the prominent Working Families Party endorsement. “The endorsement of the Working Families Party is an honor and speaks to my campaign’s unwavering commitment to working people as well as my proven track record of helping Philadelphia’s most vulnerable communities.” The endorsement comes on the heels of a wave of other endorsements, including LPAC, state Senator Tina Tartaglione and Reclaim Philadelphia.
Jessie Fuentes Stands Alone
Palenque LSNA, an organization supporting community of color and immigrants in Chicago, held a forum recently so that community members could ask Ward 25 candidates about their plans to create a more equitable Chicago. The only catch… the only candidate to show up was Victory Fund candidate Jessie Fuentes. Jessie highlighted the importance of the forum before diving into why she is best suited to represent the community. “I am the daughter of drug addiction, an incarcerated parent, poverty. Crystal Hudson Reflects on Her First Year on City Council – and Why She’s Running for Reelection
Brooklyn Paper sat down with Victory Fund candidate Crystal Hudson this week to talk about what went well during her first year on the New York City Council, the work still ahead and why she’s running for reelection. From bolstering tenant rights to creating legal safeguards for the city’s seniors, Crystal has accomplished a lot during her first year. Jalen McKee-Rodriguez Moves the Needle on Police Reform
It’s official: the San Antonio Justice Charter, which would decriminalize abortion and low-level marijuana possession, will be on the ballot this May. The proposition resulted from a citizen-led petition that met the 20,000-voter signature threshold after a three-month effort this week. Victory Fund candidate Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, the first out Black LGBTQ man ever elected in Texas, is one of just two city council members who have spoken out publicly in support of the charter. Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway Leads the Pack
Victory Fund candidate Satya Rhodes-Conway, running for reelection as Mayor of Madison, Wisconsin, was profiled by PBS Wisconsin this week. From doubling Madison's affordable housing fund to electrifying the city's public transit to creating the Community Alternative Response Emergency Services, which handles behavioral health emergencies instead of police, Satya has accomplished a lot for her community. Ad Watch: Lamont Robinson and Timmy Knudsen Launch Ads in Chicago City Council Race
This week, two Victory Fund candidates running for Chicago City Council launched ads. Lamont Robinson, running in the 4th Ward, released “Moving 4 Forward” which highlights his work to bolster small businesses, increase affordable housing and health care infrastructure and ban assault weapons. Timmy Knudsen, running for the 43rd Ward, released “Public Safety Investments” about his track record of investing in community safety measures to reduce crime, including his work to pass the largest budget allocation for public safety in city history.
