The Working Families Tax Credit has momentum.

Dear Friend,

Since I introduced my Working Families Tax Credit bill in December, the momentum behind us has only grown including the op-ed I wrote along with my cosponsors, Senator Cooney and Assemblymember Hevesi, in the Times Union this week.

Our momentum is growing beyond the page, too: just yesterday, a resolution supporting our bill was introduced in the city council by Councilmember Aviles.

We held a rally at City Hall, and I spent the afternoon listening to families tell me about what our Working Families Tax Credit could mean for them. One parent said it could help her afford accessible childcare for her son with special needs; another said it would help her save for her teenager’s college tuition; a third said it could help her afford groceries like eggs, milk, and produce to make nutritious meals for her middle-schoolers.

On average, New York’s families would receive $1,090 each year from our Working Families Tax Credit, paid out in quarterly checks. It would be a game changer for millions of families like the ones I heard from today.

But I want to hear from more than just the families I spoke with today: I want to hear from you. What would you do with an extra $1,000? Would it be groceries? School supplies? A family vacation, for the first time in a long time?

Fill out this survey I put together, and let me know. And if you’d like to forward to someone you know who’s most comfortable in Spanish, the Spanish-language survey is available here.

In service,

Andrew
