Friend, do you ever wonder if California is doing enough to fight the climate crisis?

Each year, EnviroVoters looks at every legislators’ voting record, how climate legislation fared, and if our state leaders prioritized climate action. We then compile it all together in our annual California Environmental Scorecard and give the state a grade to evaluate its performance.

We gave California a resurgent A- grade in our 2022 Scorecard last month — and friend, if you haven’t already, now is your chance to learn which legislators truly did prioritize climate, and which legislators chose to align themselves with Big Oil → [link removed]

2022 was a year of unprecedented climate action and we have much to celebrate. Now, we need to make sure we sustain this level of leadership and action moving forward. We must build on the momentum of California’s climate comeback year and invest in climate solutions at the scale required to turn the tide.

This can — and must — be the start of a new era of climate action in California. In 2023, our state leaders need to ensure long-term, equitable funding to address the climate crisis, continue to push bold policies that transition us off fossil fuels, and hold corporate polluters accountable.

We must act with urgency and at the scale that this crisis demands to lower emissions in the quickest, most equitable way possible. Californians’ health, lives, and livelihoods are all on the line. Even in the face of our impending 2030 deadline — our best chance to prevent a climate crisis catastrophe — we are incredibly hopeful and optimistic about what our state leaders can do.

Friend, I am confident that together we will keep the momentum of 2022 going.

Together we can launch this new era of climate courage.
