I hope you recently received an email from our outgoing CEO, Wayne Myslik. He will be missed but the work that we do goes on.
I am sure that you will have seen several news stories since the election outlining proposed changes to immigration and asylum rules. We are still assessing the impact of these changes, but it appears that things are not going to get any easier for those seeking refuge in the UK, escaping persecution, or worse, in their home country.
In order to make sure that we have the resources in place to meet the needs of those seeking our help, we are running our winter fundraising appeal later this month.
This year it is a little different. For the first time, we are having a telephone appeal. On Thursday 30th January members of the Consonant Team, staff and volunteers, will telephone as many of our supporters as we can in one day.
We are calling it #consonantlive.
I want you to have the opportunity to talk to one of our legal or integration teams. Those who deal face to face with those who need our help. You will be able to ask them what the issues really are and how what we do helps those in need. You can ask them anything.
I would also like to find out more about your inspirations and motivations. Why you support us and what we can do better.
And, of course, I would welcome the chance to talk about your giving. This year we are asking you to think about your regular giving. The team will be able to discuss this with you on the day.
The need is greater than ever, and I would like to thank you in advance for your ongoing support.
I would dearly love for you to take part but if you would prefer not to receive a call, please let me know by emailing
[email protected].
Warm regards
Matthew
